OUR STORY
The Journey Behind Housman & Associates
Putting the personal touch on events has always come naturally for June Housman. Before the birth of Housman & Associates, she was called upon by her employer at the time, the Texas Transportation Institute, to plan an annual event. The mindset for June was simple: treat everyone with respect, be organized, and go the extra mile to make every attendee of the event feel like they were a VIP (to be known later as The H&A Way). The event was so successful, it became a primary responsibility in subsequent years.
Fast forward to an annual event for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) in Savannah, Georgia. It was there that June was introduced to the AASHTO Director of Meetings, and soon-to-be-mentor, Hannah Whitney. June was able to offer some sage advice to aspects of the meeting that elevated the conference experience for the attendees and streamlined the work for the staff.
That interaction became the springboard for the launch of Housman and Associates (H&A) and a long-time relationship between H&A and AASHTO.

Since then, H&A has expanded from a specialized, family-owned and operated business to a diverse, multi-functional, full-service conference planning company that has hosted events in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Cancun, Mexico. While the range of services has grown, the H&A Way has remained as the cornerstone to each and every event. Today, H&A is looking toward the next generation of the business. The great news is that June has prepared well for this transition. Handing the keys to the ‘main office’ to her son and long-time business partner, Ernie Cochran, and continuing to be a mentor and partner, ensures that the H&A way will continue to endure.
